Summary:
Provide technical leadership and expertise designing power supply enclosures utilizing 3-D solid modeling software which meet new & existing design and performance targets and/or eliminate problems.
Develop thermal engineering solutions using calculated and simulation methodologies
Work closely with PCB design, electrical and process engineering to conceptualize and design the entire power supply electronic packaging.
May lead a work group of one or more technical support staff

| Responsibilities :
Design of AC/DC and DC/DC mechanical package solutions applying in-depth knowledge of design constraints and considerable degree of judgment.
Application of appropriate worst case and statistical tolerances.
Generate 2-D drawings to industry drafting standards
Create and maintain component and feature models for use in future designs
Interface with fabrication vendors to source designs, drive quality and schedules, qualify samples, and commission prototype and production tooling to schedule requirements
Cost - benefit analysis of design solutions and implementation options.
Design tests, evaluate results, and recommend solutions
Evaluate materials, gather and analyze data and determine root cause of problems.
Responsible to ensure the technical integrity of designs
Responsible to ensure designs meet cost, performance, and schedule requirements
Accountable for quality of work delivered by external suppliers as applicable
Influences others outside of team to ensure goals are met and resolves conflicts in an effective manner
Utilize machine shop equipment and other site resources to rapidly fabricate models and prototypes or rework materials to prove designs concepts

Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
8 to 12 years mechanical design experience with an emphasis on thermal management (thermal designer)
Software Experience:
MCAD Solid Modelling (Solidworks)
Thermal Simulation (Flotherm)
